NAVAJEEVAN BALA BHAVAN
Navajeevan at a glance
Navajeevan at a Glance.
Navajeevan reaches out to children on the ‘wrong’ move a move they take on their own due to city attractions or peer pressure or when the parents and the other significant aduIts make the situation unbearable at home, school and wherever they are.
Navajeevan Bala Bhavan Society works for the rescue and rehabilitation of street children/youth, child workers. Children in conflict with law, children addicted to substance abuse, children infected/affected with HIV/AIDS, children with disabilities and children of migrants living in deplorable conditions. A vast number of children rescued are from economically marginalized and socially excluded communities/families.
Navajeevan’s strategy is ‘the earlier- the better.’ The earlier a child identified and removed from the street involvement ,the better, easier and more effective the child s home integration ,and if that is not possible, rehabilitation through various programmes (bridge course, for education and skilIs training). The children rescued or referred to by the Child Welfare Committee are first housed in the Open Shelter. After in-depth counseling sessions, they are either home integrated or shifted to other Child Care Institutions, At a time .Navajeevan provides fuII support for over700 children, mostly accommodated in its Child Care Institutions, attending bridge course, schools, colleges and skilI trainings.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Navajeevan inculcates the practice of Don-Bosco’s Educational Method-Preventive and Expressive Presence – in motivating and educating the child. It is based on “Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness”.
REASON: ‘Reason’ hates punishment but corrects a child kindly and proactively, trying to make a child to see the reason to accept the mistake and move forward positively and proactively.
RELIGION: ‘Religion’ tends to place a child in a spontaneous communion with God (which ever religion she/he belongs to) who is considered a friend, a guide and a Loving Father.
LOVING KINDNESS: ‘Loving Kindness’ makes a child feel loved, making to reciprocate to the other with love.
Our Major activities:
Chiguru Children Village: It is a residential bridge school for children, both boys and girls, preparing them for regular schooling.
Round The Clock Shelter: The children rescued from street or weaned away from street life are brought immediately to ‘Round the Clock Open Shelter’ and are provided with basic needs. They undergo in-depth counselling sessions while attending Orientation Camps organized in the shelter premises.
Deepanivas: Deepanivas is one of the Child Care Institution’s of NJBB located at Carmel Nagar, Gunadala, Vijayawada, Krishna Dist., Andhra Pradesh, India. It is a residential facility for school going children (I st Standard to Xth Standard). The main aim is to provide qualitative education support to our children.
Bosco De-Addiction Centre: Navajeevan promises a bright future to those children who have become addicted to drugs and other substances.
Neethodu (‘We Are With You’)” is a project designed to support and empower vulnerable children from marginalized families. The primary objective of this project is to contribute to the development of knowledge-based target families who are increasingly self-sustaining, with improved self-identity, confidence, and self-respect, particularly in terms of their children’s development.
NiCC is a project working for the children affected/infected by HIV AIDS. The primary target groups, other households, community and youth leaders, PRIs and officials of various government line departments of the 12 target villages are sensitized and all children infected/affected with HIV/AIDS (with special emphasis on girl children and mothers) are given/facilitated to obtain care and support services on an equitable basis.
Child Safety Net builds institutional measures to protect the rights of the child at village level through various activities like Children Parliaments, Adult Activists Groups, Child Protection Committees, Local Schools, primary health care centers, Anganwadis, Local village/ward Sachivalayam staff, Village elders and other NGOs.
Punaruthejam is about Accompanying and enabling the economically most marginalized and socially excluded Internally Displaced 13 Yenadi Communities (13 Surveyed and identified locations in and around vijayawada) to become self-propelled ensuring enhanced quality life for their children.
Formal Education: The primary objective of the formal education initiative is to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability by ensuring that children from marginalized communities, especially orphans, semi-orphans, those from broken families, and differently-abled children, receive a quality education. This initiative recognizes education as a powerful tool for social transformation and aims to uplift the most vulnerable segments of society.
