YaR Day 2016 Celebrations at Chiguru

DAY – 1 of the celebrations

Young at Risk (YaR) DAY – 2016 CELEBRATIONS

“LET’S PUT THE LAST CHILD FIRST”

10th & 11th December, 2016 at DON BOSCO NAVAJEEVAN CHIGURU

Programme started with a prayer and paying homage to Don Bosco by the Executive Director Fr. Balashowry and the Directors of Navajeevan Bala Bhavan and other Directors from YaR centers, FRUITS,  staff and children from Vishakapatnam, Rajahmundry, Warangal,  Ongole, Kurnool, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

 

 

Programme was convened by Mr. Joseph Donald by welcoming the guests, Directors and children followed by welcome dance by College girls.

 

 

Later Fr. Balashowry welcomed the guests by greeting them individually which includes the Chief Guest Mr. S. Balaraju, Member State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Dr. Visala, Director, Manthena Satyanarayana Arogyalayam, Mr. J. Jayaraju, Member CWC Krishna, Fr. B. Rayappa, Member, Yar Commission, Fr. P. Jose, Director, Chiguru, NJBB, Fr. George, Director, DBNJ, Visakhapatnam, Fr. Muvvala Prasad, Director Deepa Nivas, Fr. Pascal Thomas, Mr. Santosh, Member YaR Commission and child representatives Master Vishwanath and Ms. Nagausha.

 

 

All the guests were invited on to the dias and In his welcoming words Fr. Balashowry thanked the Chief Guest and the other dignitaries’ whole heartedly for being present for this occasion. All the guests together lightened the lamp thus beginning the celebrations.

 

 

Dr. Visala addressing the participants mentioned that children are like gods and asked the children to be good citizens and blessed them to reach great heights and thanked the management for giving her the opportunity to meet new children from other centres by organising such events.

 

 

Mr. Balaraju sang a song on Child Rights and told that he is a semi orphan and was a child labourer but he is the member of State commission today. He promised to recommend grants for the child rights. Opportunities are to be used in a positive way and urged children to make use of the opportunity they have and to be a Role Model from their village. Following this Fr. Balashowry and Fr. Jose felicitated Mr. Balaraju and Dr. Visala

 

 

Fr. Muvvala Prasad said Navajeevan homes are the role models for the protection of Child Rights. Education is important which brings out of darkness of social and economical situations. Tomorrow’s society is dependent on the children. Children have to fight for their own rights and should be able to live with respect. Fr. Prasad and Fr. Thomas were felicitated by Mr. Balaraju.

 

 

After inauguration Mr. Jayaraju, CWC Member animated on Childhood and its importance. Today is Human Rights Day with a theme “Stand for Someone’s Right”. Human Rights and Child Rights are closely related. To grow up as good human one need to be a good child first. He explained about the Child Rights with examples. As CWC member he deals with many cases related to care & protection of children. Every child has a pathetic story to narrate. To reintegrate these children to their parents or to rehabilitate these children CWC plays important role. Childhood is important for a child they should develop leadership qualities and avail every opportunity for their development.

 

 

Don Bosco has shown a way of Prevention and dedication. He told to educate and motivate children to change attitude and skill development and everyone in the world are implementing the methods of Don Bosco and present J J System is nearly the same as of the Don Bosco Preventive System. He urged to work with children and not for the children. At the end he stressed the child needs “Eyes to See, Ears to hear and a Heart to feel”.

 

 

After the animation session Mr. Santosh, Member, YaR Commission conducted reflection session. He Introduced Mr. Sandeep: Working in Stock Market, Mr. J. Prasad, Dr. Anil Devaraj, Physiotherapist and HR. Fruits of NJBB Vijayawada shared their past and present life and thanked and appreciated the love, Care and support they received through DBNJ. Hence they also appealed to put the last Child first. In charges from the Yar centers shared about their experience working with children. All the fruits were felicitated by the staff.  The session ended with a party song and dance followed by delicious lunch arranged at Chiguru.

 

 

After Lunch Mr. Sylvester, Mimicry artist shared his personal childhood. He was beaten by his alcoholic father, which made him to leave home for three years. He survived by selling vegetables till he was rescued by fathers who motivated him to study providing educational support. He said that education is the most important part of every child’s life without which no one can lead life of wisdom. God gave us a good heart and we have to control and steer it to go in correct direction. Later he entertained the children with his skill of mimicry and he was felicitated by the Executive Director Fr. Balashowry.

 

 

Skit on LOST CHILD was performed by the children and at the end children were divided into groups and conducted games, songs and dance competitions. The day ended with a camp fire.

 

 

DAY – 2 of the celebrations

 

 

Day started with Mr. John Alexander Williams’s session on spiritual dimension. He compared children with god and spirituality in life is a tool to take them in a right path. It is helpful in personal and inner growth.

 

 

This was followed by a good breakfast at Chiguru and celebrating birthday of Fr. Balashowry, Executive Director of Navajeevan Bala Bhavan, Vijayawada with guests, children and staff.

 

Later Mr. Ram Mohan Rao, Director HELP Ongole was felicitated by Fr. Joji Reddy, Vice Provincial and other guests on receiving National Award for Child Welfare on November 14, 2016.

 

 

Mr. Ram Mohan shared his experience as journalist before coming to work for Child Welfare. He shared his happiness for being a part of YaR celebrations and working together with NGO like Navajeevan Don Bosco

Fr. Joji Reddy, the Vice Provincial, Hyderabad province thanked children, team of Navajeevan, representatives from different YaR centers and Volunteers for coming together for this celebrations

 

 

Fr. Joji Reddy, animated on preventive system of Don Bosco starting with slogans like Jai Ho Don Bosco. Answering to the question why children love Navajeevan, One of the child replied they get food, education, they can play and most important happiness. He shared a story of mothers love for her child for his simple request of lighting a red light for his coming back home. He shared Don Bosco as a friend of youth stressing the need to transform Don Bosco family a happy home filled with love, a play ground, a school, a temple/ Holy Place for every child

 

 

Valedictory programme 

 

 

Fr. Balashowry – the Executive Director of Navajveevan Bala Bhavan Vijayawada shared it is a memorable day waiting since last three months. Navajeevan is privileged to host YaR Day and thanked Fr. Joji – the Vice Provincial for always being ready to BE with the children and for his presence in the YaR Day celebrations. He acknowledged his happiness and gratitude for all the Guests, Resource Persons, Children, FRUITS, Directors, Staff and foreign Volunteers from different YaR centers who had come together, worked together and shared together the love of Don Bosco

 

 

Mementos were given to the representatives from different YaR centers as a token of love and appreciation. Fr. B. Rayappa, Member, Yar Commission and team, Fr. George, Director, DBNJ, Visakhapatnam and team, Fr. Ignatias, DBNJ Rajahmundry and team, Fr. P.  Jose, Director, Chiguru and team, Fr. Santiago,Director  DBNJ Ongole and team, Fr. Arogya Reddy, Director  DBNJ Warangal and team and Foreign volunteers and team.

 

 

Fr. Joji in his concluding words appreciated Fr. Balshowry and his team for making YaR Day a successful and a happy day.  He urged the children to pray for Fr. G. Anand for his miraculous and speedy recovery. He attributed special thanks to all the children for their important presence. He assured that Don Bosco institutions shall always think of children, keep on working with the children in realising their dreams. He also thanked the Family of Angela Jessie for celebrating her Birthday with all the children and handed over a memento as a token of gratitude.

 

 

After the valedictory, fun games were conducted for the children by foreign volunteers and Fr. Santiago followed by a trip to Amaravathi, the Capital City. Event came to an end with 400 children along with staff enjoying the celebrations.
